REY DEL COMPÁS

Dulce de Lecques is, after Rey del Compás, our second prestigious event,
It is located in a beautiful Belle Époque hotel in Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer.
There were 6 editions from 2017 to 2022.

The Frères Prêcheurs Church in Arles

The festival was held in the magnificent church of the Frères-Prêcheurs in Arles (entrance: rue du Docteur Fanton).
We welcomed the dancers with gender parity on a 220m2 parquet floor.
Home restoration, showroom, artists’ exhibitions and the boudoir …

Arles is listed as a World Heritage Site, and offers incredible riches.
Our festival took place during the Heritage Days, the participants could freely access all its monuments…
as well as to the delicious sunsets on the quays of the Rhône or on the banks of the Vaccarès river…
to the charm of the lanes of the old centre, to the strolls between marshes and paluns, to the Indian summer in the Camargue, to the decorations of Van Gogh, to the beaches of Piémanson or Beauduc…
to the hospitality of the numerous B&Bs and guest rooms in the old houses of Arles, to its famous gourmet tables, to the cafés of the Place du Forum, etc…

During the 5 editions, the different photographers have gleaned magnificent photos that translate the unforgettable atmosphere of the meeting between a sacred place and tango, this sacred dance.

Exhausted but so happy with this 3rd edition of EL REY DEL COMPAS.
This utopia dreamed up and conceived with my comrades from el 13 tango club: Benoit Galindo, Camille Boucher and Damien Diaz-Diaz has become reality. After two years of adjustments and sometimes painful efforts, the festival has finally reached maturity. This time it was really great on all levels. The dance floor was both eclectic and high level, the Djs who opened our ears and arms with a great musical diversity.
Naoko Koike with a good Porteño v2.0 set, Jens-Ingo Brodesser whose music, like an orchestral score, can be read on multiple listening levels, Philippe Gonela with a deep and subtle set, Sebastiano Canto who has a perception of the right moment for the right music, La Rubia who was quite simply LA RUBIA and Sarah Finci with such a sure taste who set the despedida on fire.
But this festival is also a human adventure, because we have to work together with a crazy energy. We were lucky to have an extraordinary team of volunteers. Elvis Arsic, our all-terrain cook who delighted us, Nicolas, the indispensable one man band capable of climbing the church with his bare hands, Carole Pachebezian and her concern for the eco-system, Noémie Azul Loeve for her fantastic exhibition of cyanographies and her bluish presence, Lena with the crystal voice and inexhaustible energy, Benoit Robisson utra-present and who can boast of having walked on La Rubia and Naoko, Gérald Gardier former El 13 regained with pleasure, Patrick Sokolovitch has energy and permanent invention, Eric Heleno with the cat’s ear who has finally adjusted this damned equaliser, Tristan Berthier with such a sweet smile, Bénédicte Beauloye delicious co-responsible for the Belgian tango evangelisation sector, Caroline our official supplier of 4G, Anne-Lise who shook up her mother’s schedule to help us, Annie Salt with her superhuman energy and good will, Super John the British giant, the man who spoke in the ear of the trucks and finally Olivier Normandin for his fantastic photographic eye.
